A CHARTER ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 OF CHARTER ORDINANCE NO. 3 OF THE CITY OF BELLEVILLE, KANSAS, TO PROVIDE FOR CITY-AT-LARGE ELECTION OF CITY COUNCILMEMBERS COMMENCING WITH THE APRIL 2013 MUNICIPAL ELECTION, AND REPEALING EXISTING SECTION 2 OF CHARTER ORDINANCE NO. 3.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF BELLEVILLE, KANSAS:

Section 1. Section 2 of Charter Ordinance No. 3 is hereby amended to read as follows:

Section 2.

a.    There shall be elected to two-year terms, city-at-large, on the first Tuesday in April of each odd-numbered year, commencing in 2013, the three council positions which most recently stood for election at the April 2011 municipal election.

b.    Councilmembers elected in April 2012, and any councilmember appointed to a vacancy in a council position for which there was an election in April 2012, shall complete their elected or appointed terms of office, and those council positions shall thereafter be elected to two-year terms, city-at-large, commencing with the April 2014 municipal election.

c.    The Mayor shall be elected to two-year terms, city-at-large, on the first Tuesday in April of each odd-numbered year.

Section 2. Section 2 of Charter Ordinance No. 3 is hereby repealed.
