Pursuant to Kansas Statutes Annotated, Section 440-2301, et seq., the city hereby extends the benefits of the Federal Social Security Act and any amendments thereof to all of the persons constituting the following classes or groups of employees who are or may become eligible for coverage thereunder, effective and retroactive to January 1, 1951 under plan form KSS-l of the State Department of Civil Service:

A.    All appointive officials of the city except those excluded by law;

B.    All employees of the city except those excluded by law.

The mayor and city clerk are authorized and directed to execute and submit to the proper authorities in behalf of the city all documents necessary to procure the coverage authorized in Section 2.44.010 of this chapter.

Upon final approval and taking effect of the plan of coverage mentioned in Section 2.44.010 of this chapter, the city and the officers and employees of the city shall fully perform all requirements thereof.
